PTA
The Parent Teacher Association at IES Gothenburg is a volunteer-based group of parents who work to promote cooperation between home and school. The PTA consists of representatives from the school´s leader group, teachers, and two parent representatives from every mentor class. It is important to the PTA that all parents feel welcome to attend meetings, voice opinions, and make suggestions.
The primary function of the PTA is to actively promote interaction and conversation within the IES Gothenburg community through social and informative events throughout the school year. Our first event for the 2011-2012 school year will host a lecture on "Children with Special Needs".
The PTA also works to ensure that all students will have a successful and enjoyable school experience. We need to continue to support our students from home, by both being engaged with their activities and giving our economic support through contributions of PTA fees. The voluntary yearly fee is 100 kronor per family, regardless of how many children attend the school. Any larger contributions would be gratefully received.
Project groups will be formed to work on specific events, which will require a more intensive time commitment as the event date approaches. These groups will work independently, reporting to the PTA´s Board of Directors, and commitment to the group will end after the event has taken place.
The Board of Directors consists today of a Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary, as well as two representatives. The Board is elected at the parent meeting held at the beginning of the school year. The PTA wishes to have a Board of at least seven parents, as well as representatives from the school´s leader group, teachers, and student body.
